  Dear IAC Members:

I wanted to make all of you aware that we have personally followed up with
Harris Publishing on all of your concerns regarding the IAC Membership
Directory. The Telemarketing Supervisor received a copy of each of your
complaints regarding the "high pressure tactics" of the telemarketers to
coerce our members into purchasing the directory. All shifts of Harris'
sales staff were spoken to and informed that any undue pressure being
applied to IAC members to purchase the directory was inappropriate behavior.
Harris Publishing sends their personal apologies for any upset, and wants to
make certain you understand that any upset was certainly not intended. "It
was certainly not our intention to offend anyone, and it's important that I
make sure our staff is providing excellent customer service to your members.
I appreciate your help in letting me know, and your patience," stated
Harris' Telemarketing Supervisor.

Each member that contacted the IAC Executive Office regarding concerns has
already or will shortly receive a letter directly from Harris Publishing
apologizing and letting them know the primary purpose of the call was to
verify the member's information, but that Harris had also hoped they would
be interested in placing an order for the directory. Those members
expressing their dissatisfaction with the telemarketers have also been
removed from the telemarketing list and will not be called again.

Going forward, for those of you who have not yet received calls from Harris
Publishing, you should expect the telemarketers to request that you update
your information, even if you mailed in a response. The telemarketers will
also ask if you wish to purchase the directory, however, there should be no
pressure applied to you to purchase the book.

For our international members, my personal apologies go out to you for my
misunderstanding of our contract with Harris Publishing. All international
members should have been mailed a questionnaire, and also a follow-up
postcard requesting that they call in to update their information and order
the directory. However, no telemarketer will be personally calling you
directly to verify your information. If you have not mailed or called in
your information, please do so prior to February 7, 2000. If you prefer you
may contact Harris Publishing directly at 1-877-518-6980 or send mail to
Harris Publishing, 1423 New Market Square South, New Port News, VA 23605.

As always, we are to assist you as members of the IAC. Please feel free to
keep me posted regarding your membership concerns on the Directory, or any
other issue.

Sincerely,
Lisa.
