The next-to-last figure in this year's Advanced Known is one I haven't seen before and that is not listed in my FAI catalogue. It is listed in the Red Book as 7.25.1, with rolls on both lines. (For those without the rules, the figure begins upright. There is a pull to a 45 up with a full snap on the line. There follows a push into a 3/4 outside loop, ending on an inverted 45 up line. There is a 2 of 4 to an upright 45, and a cap to finish the figure.) I do not see in the IAC rules how this figure should be judged. I can make certain assumptions, 1) the radii at the start and end of the figure should be the same as the looping portion. 2) rolls should be centered on the line, etc. but 3) should the bottom of the loop be the same altitude as the start of the maneuver? my guess is yes 4) should the end of the figure be the same altitude as the top of the loop? My guess is... I don't know. Can anyone provide definitive answers? We who will have to judge this thing, not to mention those who are going to fly it, need to know what to look for. -- Dennis Yugo http://www.hooked.net/~dyugo
