Nataly Sergeeva, former female world champion, has been reported killed in a crash when testing the new two-seater prototype called YAK-54 outside Moscow last Thursday (17/8). I have no details of the accident yet but expect to hear more from a friend that will attend the funeral on Tuesday (22/8). There will be many people in the aerobatic world that will miss Nataly as she has been in the sport for so long and also with a lot of success. In her last major contest, the European Championships, she took the goldmedal in the known sequence, beating all the men too. Nataly was a very nice person to know and I had looked forward to see her again at an airshow in Sweden two weeks from now. It is hard to realize that even one of the very best in the world can be killed in an accident. Freddy Stenbom
