Shortly after I took over responsibilities for the list, Digital Equipment
Corporation decided to add an "enhancement" to their operating system that
prevented the proper functioning of Majordomo. Since the DEC Alpha system
was the only workstation class machine available to me, I had to find
another alternative. Since Listserv costs money, I had to find a public
domain package. In order to continue providing this service, I was forced
to implement the list on my Windows NT system using beta test software from
the European Microsoft Windows Academic Center (EMWAC). The EMWAC package
does not allow me to screen posts for administrative (subscribe,
unsubscribe, who, etc) requests.
