Tom,
I have recently installed a set of wooden leading edges on a S2B that I recovered. Here is the readers digest version, we hired a DER to do an engineering report and along with that report comes an FAA form 8110-3 filled out by the DER. What the 8110-3 states is that the engineering report is APPROVED data that can be filled with the FAA form 337. THIS IS NOT A FIELD APPROVAL. These wooden leading edges were purchased from Steve Wolf and we were very happy with them. We made one minor installation change, the owners wished to place a 1/4" upper and lower stringer to be run along the nose ribs. I have spoken to the DER and a copy of the engineering report and a 8110-3 can be purchased for a cost of $150.00. If you wish to have more information on this please contact me.
