I should mention that you can make the telex mike work acceptably
in a Pitts cockpit if you have a mike muff (essential) and you also 
turn down the gain potentiometer in your radio.  At the same time
you can also crank up the sidetone slightly - they're typically set
too low for our noisy cockpits (and deafened eardrums :)

Peter, that worked out ok for you in your S-1T didn't it?
