Invitation to submit nominations for the non-flying IAC awards

Each year, the IAC presents four special awards. Nominations for these
awards are based on the significant contribution of individual IAC members
for their achievements according to the criteria of the award in the
previous contest year - 2004. As Chairman of the IAC Awards committee, I
invite the IAC membership to submit nominations for the Robert L. Heuer
Judges Award, the Frank Price Cup, the Harold E. Neumann Award, and the
Kathy Jaffe Volunteer Award. These four prestigious awards will be presented
this year at the US Nationals awards banquet in September.

The Robert L. Heuer Trophy for Judging Excellence

This award is given annually for outstanding performance as an aerobatic
judge during the prior contest year. General guidelines, though not
requirements, for the award include National Judgeship or having judged a
minimum of three contests, one of which should have been the U.S. Nationals.
The recipient receives a plaque and the master trophy is on display in the
IAC Pavilion in Oshkosh.

The Frank Price Cup

The purpose of this award is to recognize the person who has contributed the
most to the sport of aerobatics in the previous year. This includes any IAC
member who has contributed to the sport, not just American members but all
IAC members throughout the world. The master trophy resides at the IAC
pavilion in Oshkosh and the recipient receives a laser cut plaque with a
photograph of the permanent trophy set in the plaque.

The Harold E. Neumann Award

This trophy goes to the outstanding chief judge each year. General
guidelines, though not requirements, for the award include a person known
for leadership qualities and fairness on the judge's line. This person
conducts each contest flight in a professional manner and is widely
respected for his or her knowledge and experience of IAC rules and judging
criteria. Additionally, this person uses each flight program as an
educational opportunity for competitors and judges with preflight and
postflight briefings. The recipient receives a plaque and the master trophy
is inscribed with the recipients name. The master trophy remains on display
at the IAC pavilion in Oshkosh.

This award recognizes the outstanding volunteer during the previous contest
year. General guidelines are that this person is one who consistently,
unselfishly and eagerly accepts more responsibilities than he or she can
handle, meets these responsibilities with tireless effort, efficiency and a
smile, and who places the needs of others above his or her own, making the
sport of aerobatics more enjoyable for everyone. The recipient trophy

engraved on it and is presented at the U.S. Nationals awards banquet. The

the nomination petition available for download or you can complete the
petition directly on-line. Nominations are welcome from either individual
members or collectively as a Chapter. Chapter meetings are a good forum to
discuss potential candidates so the discussion and deliberation that these
significant awards deserve takes place

The nomination deadline for this year is June 15, 2005. The nominations are
presented to the IAC Board of Directors for voting. The Board selects the
final winner by secret ballot for each of the awards.
